The Scallon Ater Project 2020

in 2020 we continued the Scallion Ater project with Michael Fortune who began work with the Arts Office of Carlow County Council where we gifted 150 seed-packs containing scallion seeds, badges, coloring pages etc. to families all over the county. Over the months he has been getting photos from about 20 families showing the progress from planting, looking after and eventually eating! This project set about getting Carlow people, especially families with children, to reconnect with the scallion and the term 'Scallion Ater' which the natives are affectionately referred to. Michael is in the process of calling to some of the homes to film the final harvest so if you got some seeds and want to be included send him a PM or email thefolkloreproject@gmail.com. In the meantime, enjoy these photos and sent in by parents to Michael as well as a video link to Micheal’s Facebook talk about the project. .
